If dowels were readily available in metric, this wouldn't be too bad, but metric dowels seem to be nearly impossible to find. So I will drop the money on these instead.

The best price I found was this set: http://www.amazon.com/Montessori-Cylinder-Blocks/dp/B001RJYB5I/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=toys-and-games&qid=1256764850&sr=8-2Rachel R.https://www.blogger.com/profile/01598574256854766532noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31724953.post-23904271566431113032009-07-25T11:22:29.282-07:002009-07-25T11:22:29.282-07:00I am new to the blog ... I have introduced her to the M Method, and just like your Ella the imaginative side of her is always with her in her activities!

I can't wait to read on and see how else you incorporate the M Method into your daily lives!Budget Bellahttp://www.budgetbella.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31724953.post-21022384734702857222008-10-15T11:51:00.000-07:002008-10-15T11:51:00.000-07:00Aha! I've been looking for Canadian sources for the Montessori materials I don't feel like making... like those darn cylinder blocks!

We're doing a "loose" Montessori with DD2, not the full schedule and everything but a good deal of the philosophy and activities. She loooooooves Practical Life stuff.

Looking at the blogroll, are you in New Brunswick? Always fun to find more NB homeschoolers, we're few and far between!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31724953.post-3966370983262902582008-06-26T18:19:00.000-07:002008-06-26T18:19:00.000-07:00I am so glad I found your blog! Please keep them coming...you are a true inspiration!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31724953.post-80610118113353820972008-05-12T17:18:00.000-07:002008-05-12T17:18:00.000-07:00Today she tried doing two cylinder blocks simultan...Today she tried doing two cylinder blocks simultaneously for the first time, and though it took some convincing to get her to put her "family" back to "bed", by reminding her that they could get up again after they'd found their proper "beds." She did the whole thing twice, so I'm going to have to take over the third block in order to keep her challenged.

Now, if only she could do one of her mathematics activities without getting bored and distracted by the time she reaches 6 or 7, we'd be all set!HomeSchoolerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17049486049395488105noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31724953.post-6574333210123679852008-05-12T08:30:00.000-07:002008-05-12T08:30:00.000-07:00I know exactly where you are coming from with the ...I know exactly where you are coming from with the anthropomorphizing. DO you know how hard it is to teach a child to play chess when she keeps getting distracted by the conversations the pieces are having with each other?

At least we got it done. Though, there are occasionally cries of "Aagh!" or "Surrender or Die" when pieces are being captured. I can live with that.

Especially when I hear her say "Chess is so much better than Checkers. You can do so much more."

Ella looks like she is enjoying her blocks, as learning toys as well as as strange looking dolls.RebelAngelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06378809557123102752noreply@blogger.com
